Q3 2009

Intel’s next generation Nehalem design with integrated graphics design is scheduled for Q3 2009 and Intel calls it Havendale.

Havendale is a dual-core CPU with integrated graphics and integrated Memory Controller. The chip supports Integrated graphics, but it will also work with discrete graphics.

The surprising part is that Integrated Memory Controller (IMC) supports only dual-channel DDR3 memory while Bloomfield, high-end Nehalem, supports three channel.

The new CPU supports turbo boost technology and the dual cores have support for four threads, as the CPU supports Hyper Threading.

The chip will come with 4MB of Intel smart cache and from what we know how it will launch in Q3 2009, more than a year from now. This CPU will be a scalable design and we expect to see many different SKUs based on it.
