September, if not later

According to Digitimes, Intel has delayed the introduction of the dual-core Atom 330 processor due to shortages of the single-core Atom 230. Intel was meant to start mass production of the dual-core Atom 330 next month, but this is now unlikely to happen.

The Atom 330 was meant to launch sometime in August, but has now been pushed back to September, or possibly even later. Intel is expected to update the launch schedule for the Atom 330 sometime in August, most likely during IDF San Francisco, which starts on the 19th of August.

We have a sneaky suspicion that Intel isn't in any kind of hurry to launch a dual-core Atom processor, especially as VIA hasn't even started to ship its Nano processor as yet, and doesn't want to compete with its own Celeron processors too heavily.

Intel might very well be concerned about the uptake of the multitude of Atom-powered devices, as well, and it seems like very few companies have gotten their Atom-powered products on the market so far. Time will tell how this tale ends; but for now, don't expect to see a dual-core Atom until Q4 this year.
