IBM calls for more staff monitoring

IBM says that companies need to monitor their employees much better. In a statement IBM claimed that nearly half of hacking and other security-related incidents in companies today are still caused internally.

Most attacks were caused by "privileged users" who have access to company systems, and make up only five percent of the workforce. Peter Rajnak, security solutions manager for IBM's software group in Asia Pacific, told the Inquirer.net that revenge by disgruntled employees was the basis of a lot of attacks.

Robert Jones, IT security and privacy consultant for IBM Asia Pacific, said systems should look at why an HR employee might log on outside of office hours or not from his desk.
