Said to be closer to release now

Amazon has been telling everyone who will listen that they intend to offer Kindle support to more devices than just their own reader branded with the Kindle name. So far, the reader has already been released for the PC and iPhone. Sources are now telling us that the Kindle reader is close to release for the BlackBerry as well as the Mac platform.

According to the whispers that we are hearing from our sources, Amazon is looking to make a big push with the Kindle software reader, and getting it up and running on additional platforms such as the BlackBerry is very important for the overall long-term growth strategy for the electric book platform.

So far, the Kindle has been well received as a standalone device, and the iPhone software version of the reader seems to be quite successful, which is likely to suggest that the BlackBerry version could be very successful, as well. From what we hear, you can expect the BlackBerry version to arrive for free download early next year, with the Mac version to also be available in the same time frame.
