Hecatoncheires generation

AMD plans
to replace Madison, Park and Broadway DirectX 11 parts with next generation parts. The new ones are based on Hecatoncheires architecture that will eventually replace the Evergreen generation.

AMD has three codenames reserved for mobile chips and this time it named them after islands. The first one, probably the high end, is Cozumel, followed by mainstream Ibiza and last one in line Kauai.

Conzumel is a Caribbean island, Ibiza is in Spain while Kauai is in Hawaii. We don’t know much about this generation apart that it’s a brand new chip, not just tweaked version of RV770 / RV870 architecture and that it supports MIMD shaders.

Since 28nm should not be ready by early 2011 these chips might be developed in 32nm process and later migrate to 28nm when available, but this is something one can only speculate at this point.
