AMD has just introduced its first six-core CPUs, based on the Thuban
core. In addition to the 1055T and 1090T, the outfit launch the 1035T
and the 3.0GHz 1075T sometime in Q3. The 1035T will end up priced under $200, as if the $199 1055T wasn't a great deal as it is.
The 900T series was pushed back to Q3 as well. It's a Thuban based
quad-core and it will also feature Turbo Core, hence the 3GHz 960T will
clock to 3.4GHz depending on the load. Interestingly, Phenom II X4 800
and 700 series will be discontinued in Q3 and it's unclear whether AMD
will introduce any replacements. The 3.3GHz Phenom II X2 560 is also
coming in Q3.
There will also be a myriad of refreshed dual, triple and quad core
Athlons. The Athlon II X4 600 series will get two new products, the 645
clocked at 3.1GHz and the 650, clocked at 3.2GHz. The 3.2GHz Athlon II
X3 450 and the 3.3GHz Athlon II X2 265 are also coming in Q3. They will
be followed by 3.3GHz and 3.4GHz parts in Q4.
The entry level Sempron 145 will be replaced by the 150, clocked at 2.9GHz.
