Phenom 2.2GHz, aka 9500, and Phenom 9600 clocked at 2.3GHz will have a locked multiplier. You won’t be able to set it for a higher multiplier, but the down clocking will work, as AMD is quite big on cool and quiet power saving marchitectures.
The unlocked Phenom CPUs will once again be branded with the FX suffix, and they will come in Q1 2008 when AMD is ready with the new B3 stepping.
Phenom FX 2.6GHz should be the first unlocked CPU and unfortunately, we have to wait quite some time before it's ready. Again, not such great news for overclockers.
