Patent infringement in 140 characters
TechRadium, a Texas-based developer, is claiming that Twitter borrowed
some of its notification technology for sending alerts to many users
and platforms at once, thus annoying and boring them to death.
The company claims a number of organisations could choose to use
Twitter, which is free, instead of its technology, dubbed Iris, which
is not free. Of course, you can't blame anyone for using a free service
rather than a paying one, but TechRadium claims Twitter simply nicked
three of its patents and used its ideas in designing its own system for
distributing alerts.
The Texan company is seeking a permanent injunction against Twitter at the federal level, and they're also asking for damages.
