Better than another texting scandal
HP is planning to refresh its ironically entitled
Integrity server range. The maker of outrageously priced printer ink has hinted
that it will use Intel's quad-core "Tukwila" processors which were
launched in February. This will allow HP to update its Integrity servers with a
more modern, modular design that lets customers scale them more easily and
reduce ownership costs.
Integrity customers have been waiting a long time for any
changes. Other than moderately faster processors, HP hasn't made significant
changes to most of the systems since the Integrity brand was introduced in
2003. The high-end Superdome server has had the same chassis
since its introduction ten years ago.
Intel will be hoping that its Itanium brand gets a lift
from the new systems. HP is by far the biggest seller of Itanium-based servers
