We know where your friends are
Google Latitude has just got a bit more creepier. The Big Brother software which tracks your
location history and alerts you when your friends are nearby has got two add-ons which will made it a doddle to stalk anyone.
Location History determines where you were and where you
paused. You can check your history and piece together last night's pub crawl
and work out exactly how you ended up with that girl who looked nice at the
time but turned out to be a part time sumo wrestler. (I married her for her money, not her looks. sub.ed.)
The other add-on to Latitude is Location Alerts which
notifies you via e-mail or text if one
of your friends are near. Combined with the omnipresent powers of Location
History, Alerts establishes frequently-visited locations, so you won't get
messages when someone is in an expected place like at home or in the office.
Google takes a week or so to learn your pattern of behaviour which is a little
creepy.
All these features are opt-in so you don't have to worry
about you ex finding you, but it still a little creepy.
