Her Majesty the Queen of England has become a You Tube
sensation after footage of her telling Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi
off ended up on the film sharing site.
Queen Elizabeth is shown giving the
former right wing Freemason a scolding for shouting. Berlusconi was so embarrassed, particularly by the coverage the incident got in the Italian press
that he said it made him want to tell the press to "go to hell".
Berlusconi
is shown loudly exclaiming "Mr Obamaaaa!" even though the US President is close
to him. The Queen then turns around, flings her arm in the air and says
angrily: "What is it? Why does he have to shout?"
The Italian media have
described it as yet Berlusconi "embarrassment" for Italy. Corriere Della Sera
had a front-page cartoon that showed the Queen with her fingers in her ears and
other G20 leaders looking startled as Berlusconi shouts. Footage of the
incident was also posted on YouTube and has since been viewed hundreds of
thousands of times.
Berlusconi has accused the Italian press of using
"slander" and "disinformation" to paint him as a leader who repeatedly makes
gaffes on foreign trips. The last time he was out of the country he told the
French president Nicolas Sarkozy that he “got him his woman” meaning his
wife, supermodel-turned-singer Carla Bruni.
A few days after the photo
incident, Berlusconi made German chancellor Angela Merkel wait while he chatted
on his mobile phone with Turkey's prime minister about who should become NATO's
new chief.
He also once referred to US president Barack Obama as "suntanned"
and suggested in 2005 he had shagged the Finnish president. The fact the
video is so popular on YouTube is probably an indication that a lot of Italians
would like their most sued Prime Minister to shut up. (You really want to get deported, don't you? sub.ed.)
