Nvidia and Opera Software announced a cooperative effort on a project that should result in faster and more advanced Internet surfing on Smartphones and mobile internet devices (MIDs).
Nvidia decided to include licensed copies of optimized Opera 9.5 browser with their Tegra processor’s software packages, thus providing MID device users with a desktop-like surfing experience. The optimized browser is characterized by accelerated vector graphics/video content and JavaScript support.
Tegra chips will allow Opera 9.5 browser to provide MID surfers with interactive multimedia hardware acceleration, displaying pictures and in-page video content as well as GPU acceleration that will result in smooth and interactive zooming and panning with minimum consumption.
First Tegra-based devices with the new Opera 9.5 browser should surface sometime by the end of 2009.
