Just after the announcement of Intel's Centrino 2 platform, OCZ has announced its own DIY gaming notebook based on this platform.
The new customizable notebook will come with a 17-inch LCD screen with a native resolution of 1,920x1,200. It will come with choice of either the GM47, GM45 or PM45 chipset and features like 802.11a/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, integrated 2 MP camera, integrated HD stereo sound, and a fingerprint reader.
The new notebook will support Intel's Core 2 Extreme X9100 or Core 2 Duo T9600, P9500, T9400, P8600 and P8400 processors. It will be able to take up to 4GB of DDR3-1066 memory and a single 2.5-inch SATA hard drive or SSD.
As for the graphics part, any potential owner will be able to choose between a Geforce 8800M GTX or two ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3870 cards in Crossfire mode. The new DIY Centrino 2 based notebook will feature upgradeable MXM 2 graphics card slots which makes the upgrade almost as easy as a swapping the battery.
A pleasant surprise is the 12-cell battery which should suite this 17-inch behemoth. It will be offered with either with Windows XP or Vista and it will come with a 1-year warranty.
