Preview: Available soon

Gainward is among the first companies to bring Fermi-based graphics cards to Europe, and we simply couldn’t resist the urge to show you some preliminary results. We’re talking about two cards – 480 GTX and 470 GTX. Both cards run at reference clocks, but perhaps the most important piece of info is that the cards will soon be available in greater numbers. The first card we’ll show you is Gainward’s 480 GTX, where the card’s full name is GTX480 1536M GDD5 348B Dual-DVI mHDMI.

As you can see, the card comes with reference cooling. Not much to say here, except that the cooler will keep the GPU below 97°C in 3D and at about 65°C in idle mode. As you probably know already, the fan isn’t very quiet, especially when the card heats up, but we’re hoping that Gainward will apply some of their special treatment and remedy that as they’ve always done.

Naturally, with both cards running at reference clocks, the results are almost identical to Nvidia’s reference cards. We’ll soon show some overclocking results for which we’re hoping will provide better performance than on reference clocks. One thing’s for certain – these cards perform great in gaming tests. Stay tuned for the full review.
