Nvidia is finally retiring its classic Control Panel for GeForce users after 20 years of driver-tweaking comfort food.
According to VideoCardz all actively supported Control Panel features for GeForce users have now been shifted into the Nvidia app.
The move follows a long migration that began when Nvidia started pushing users towards its newer unified app, which tries to roll driver updates, graphics settings, and account-flavoured odds and ends into one place.
For GeForce Game Ready and Studio Driver users, the old Control Panel is now being shown the door. That will probably upset anyone who still likes their GPU settings served in a grey box from the Windows XP era.
The Nvidia Control Panel has been a fixture for PC gamers and workstation users for two decades. It handled display settings, 3D profiles, colour tweaks and all the other bits people fiddled with before blaming the game engine.
The Nvidia app is now the official home for supported GeForce settings. It means users will need to get used to the newer interface rather than clinging to the classic panel like it is a sacred relic.
The company says the transition is complete for GeForce users. The old Control Panel had a good run, but 20 years is a long time in graphics driver land.
