15 percent higher gaming performance

AMD has announced the global availability of its second Generation AMD Ryzen desktop processors, which it claims, offer up to 15 percent higher gaming performance than the first generation.

Dubbed the  Ryzen 7 2700X, Ryzen 7 2700, Ryzen 5 2600X, and Ryzen 5 2600 come with features like Precision Boost 2 and Extended Frequency Range 2 (XFR 2).

Each second generation Ryzen processor comes equipped with an AMD Wraith Cooler inside the retail box. Additionally, AMD’s flagship Ryzen 7 2700X CPU includes the new Wraith Prism cooler featuring better thermal performance, an upgraded fan profile, and enhanced lighting capabilities with per-RGB controls.

The new AMD X470 chipset supports all second-generation Ryzen desktop processors on Socket AM4 motherboards and comes with a free download of AMD’s new StoreMI technology software.

StoreMI technology allows end users to blend up to 256GB of performance storage, such as NVMe or SATA SSD, with high capacity SSD or HDD storage into a single automated Virtual SSD. Machine Intelligent Storage learns how you use your system and dynamically adapts to provide SSD performance for all of your active applications and stores less frequently accessed data on the capacity drive.

AMD Computing and Graphics Business Group senior vice-president Jim Anderson said that the second gen  Ryzen CPUs raise the standards for enthusiast gamers and creators.

“With this launch, we’re demonstrating that we are just getting started, that we are committed to delivering a multi-generational roadmap of leadership high-performance processors that will drive innovation and competition into the industry for years to come”, he said.

The new “Zen+” core increases IPC and reduces both cache and memory latencies compared to 1st Gen Ryzen processors. AMD’s SenseMI technology is updated with Precision Boost 2, which enables 2nd Gen Ryzen processors to intelligently analyse the workload and computing environment and contributes to delivering the highest multiprocessing performance in their classes1.

XFR 2 technology on all AM4 platforms with second generation Ryzen processors, enthusiast PC builders can get better performance using spruced-up cooling gear.

The new processors feature soldered integrated heat spreaders for better thermal transfer and unlocked multipliers for simple, powerful overclocking control. Performance tuning, enabled by the new Ryzen Master 1.3 software, is easier and can manage per-core overclocking with automatic identification of the potentially fastest cores.

The new AMD X470 chipset is available on Socket AM4 motherboards now. In addition to enhanced memory compatibility and overclocking capability, these motherboards come with a free download of the new AMD StoreMI technology software, which combines the speed of an SSD and the capacity of a traditional spinning hard disk into a single easy-to-manage drive for faster, smarter, storage.

Compatible with all current AM4 processors, the new X470 motherboards augment the existing 300-series motherboards, which are compatible with the second generation processors with a firmware (BIOS) update. Many in-market motherboards already come with the updated BIOS, indicated by a “Ryzen Desktop 2000 Ready” label on the package.
