Dell caught with Triple-core pants down

User guide proves Dell Tri-core is real

We managed to back up Theo's story about Dell being the first with Triple- core Phenom CPUs that he wrote here.

We got hold of a Dell Optiplex 740 user manual from Dell's own Website. It clearly indicates that Optiplex 740 comes with Quad-core or Triple-Core Phenom, while Athlon X2 and Athlon 64 should also work in this set up.

Dell also reveals that Tri-core Phenom has 1.5MB L2 cache and 2MB L3 cache. The odd number of 1.5MB cache comes from three cores, with each having 512KB.

The machine is based on Nvidia's Geforce 6150LE/Nforce 430 chipset and supports up to 8GB DDR2 memory. We don’t know the launch date, but we are sure that it will happen at some point in March and at the same time we heavily suspect Cebit.
