Confirms leaked slides for Q2 launch

Those looking to upgrade to a notebook that packs a bit more punch might be in luck as Gigabyte has hinted that Coffee Lake-H CPUs might come by the end of March, which is pretty much in line with the recently leaked slides.

The replacement for Intel's Kaby Lake-H chips, including the popular Core i5-7440HQ or the Core i7-7700HQ, the Core i7-7820HK and the high-end Core i7-7920HQ, should be coming by the end of March, or according to the recently leaked slide, "early in Q2 2018".

Unfortunately, the same set of slides leaked at Computerbase.de included the upcoming mobile lineup, only included the Core i7-8850H and the Core i5-8400H, which suggest that the rest of the lineup could come at a later date.

In case you missed it, the Core i7-8850H is a six-core part with Hyper-Threading and 2.6GHz base and 4.3GHz Turbo clocks. The Core i5-8400H will remain a quad-core part but it did get Hyper-Threading support and works at the 2.5GHz base and 4.2GHz Turbo clocks.

There is also the rumored Core i9-8950HK CPU which also has six-cores and twelve threads and works at the 2.9GHz base and 4.8GHz Turbo CPU clocks but has a 45W+ TDP and could go in some of those high-end gaming notebooks.

The leaked post from Gigabyte's tech support team, which was posted at Reddit, suggested that while the original Aero 15X is no longer available, a new model with refreshed Intel 8th gen CPU will be available by the end of March or early April 2018, which lines up with a leaked slide.

While Intel also launched its Kaby Lake-G CPUs with Radeon RX Vega M IGP, these still have a higher TDP of 65W-100W, leaving a good market share for Coffee Lake-H SKUs.
