Samsung’s EVP, Kyungsik Choi, took the stage together with Qualcomm’s Alex Katouzian, SVP and General Manager of Mobile Business Unit, to announce the big partnership. Microsoft’s Roanne Sones General Manager at Microsoft who currently leads the Strategy and Ecosystem team within Cloud + AI Platform also took part in the Computex 2018 Snapdragon 850 event with Qualcomm’s SVP. Katuouzian and Samsung’s SVP Kyungsik. At the press event, they even came up with a great always connected picture. Roanne Sones represents the software and ecosystem, Alex Katouzian represents the Snapdragon 850 and all the hardware and drivers necessary for Samsung’s EVP Kyungsik Cho a representation of OEM to make the think and light always connected PC. 
This is a good indication how important the ARM/Snapdragon 850 always-connected strategy is for both Samsung and Microsoft. It looks like challenging Intel in the PC market is on a lot of companies’ minds. We already shared a lot of details about the Snapdragon 850 in a separate story.
A few months back, Fudzilla talked to Cristiano Amon and Alex Katouzian about the Samsung partnership announced in February 2018 and both confirmed that the companies plan to work much closer in the future.
Samsung wants to launch its Always-on, Always-Connected User Experiences and Katouzian believes that this partnership is very important for the future of always on, always connected Snapdragon-based PC. Samsung definitely profits the Snapdragon X20 1.2 Gbps modem as well as advancements in the faster GPU, CPU, audio and wireless performance.
The Snapdragon 850 is manufactured in the second generation 10nm node and it brings significant speed increase and better battery life. This advancement will allow sleeker and more portable, fanless designs for mobile customers. The new Snapdragon 850 platform can offer a 3X increase in AI performance as well as 25 hours of continuous usage under normal usage conditions. They call this a multi-day usage, so let’s say you will be able to get three days of usage with close to eight hours a day.

Customers in the USA will also benefit a free data on Sprint network until the end of the year if they purchase always connected PC. Fudzilla already reported that you can expect to see the Snapdragon 850 based PCs shipping for holiday season 2018.
