Alleged AMD Ryzen CPU lineup leaks

by on04 February 2017

Shows 17 different SKUs

A leak showing a full AMD Ryzen CPU lineup has leaked online, showing a total of 17 different SKUs as well as the new naming scheme that suggests AMD might rename its CPU lineup to match those of graphics cards and SSDs.

According to a leak from Coolaler.com, AMD is expected to launch no less than 17 different SKUs in its Ryzen CPU lineup, including five eight-core, four six-core and eight quad-core SKUs. Surprisingly, AMD has decided to change its CPU naming scheme, branding its Ryzen lineup as Rx 1xxx(x).

These 17 SKUs will be a part of R7, R5 and R3 1x000 series, and the flagship is the R7 1800X, an 8-core/16-thread part that should go against Intel's Core i7-6900K. While we still do not have precise clocks, the leak suggests that the R7 series will be clocked between 3.0 and 3.6GHz, the R5 series between 3.2 and 3.5GHz and the R3 series between 3.1 and 3.4GHz.

The R7 lineup also includes the R7 Pro 1800, R7 1700X, R7 1700 and R7 Pro 1700, all 8-core/16-threads SKUs, most likely with different clocks and different features for the "Pro" parts.

The R5 lineup includes both 6-core/12-thread and 4-core/8-thread parts. Surprisingly, both the 8-core and 6-core parts come with enabled SMT and only the 4-core parts will be available without SMT. The R5 1600X is the flagship 6-core part, followed by the R5 Pro 1600, R5 1500, and R5 Pro 1500.

There is a total of eight different quad-core parts, starting with R5 1400X, R5 Pro 1400, R5 1300, and R5 Pro 1300, all quad-core parts with SMT-enabled. The R3 series starts with R3 1200X, R3 Pro 1200, R3 1100 and the R3 Pro 1100, quad-core parts without SMT (Simultaneous MultiThreading).

If this leak proves out to be true, AMD will cover most of the market. The biggest unknown is still the price and it could change everything. The Ryzen CPU lineup should launch on March 2nd alongside its new socket AM4 motherboards based on X370, B350, and A320 chipset.
