Nvidia poaches ex-TI OMAP exec to head Tegra unit

Phil Carmack is out

Nvidia announced Tuesday that its Tegra team has been bolstered by Deepu Talla, a former Texas Instruments executive who used to head TI’s SoC business. Talla is now an Nvidia VP and he will head the company’s Tegra business unit.

Phil Carmack, the former Tegra boss, is leaving Nvidia to become a CEO in one of Nvidia’s partner companies, reports Xbit Labs.

Talla has extensive experience in mobile computing, with ten years of service at Texas Instruments. He eventually advanced to general manager of TI’s OMAP unit. Sadly though, TI chose to ditch the consumer SoC market, leaving plenty of talent up for grabs.

Nvidia is clearly trying to grab at least some of the markets left vacant by TI’s decision call it quits. However, so is everyone else.
