AMD FX-8350 hits 8.17GHz

by on26 October 2012

Firing on all eight cylinders

AMD’s new flagship FX-8350 processor seems to have a thing for record setting overclocking feats. A few weeks ago enthusiasts pushed the new chip to 7.44GHz and now it managed to break the 8GHz barrier.

The new processor hit 8.176.5GHz, with all eight cores active. The voltage was 1.932V and the multiplier was 29x. Of course, the extreme clock was achieved with liquid nitrogen.

So there you have it, the FX-8350 appears to be the Lance Armstrong of the CPU world. Turn up the juice, pump it full of nasty chemicals and it goes like stink.
