IDF Taiwan: Dual socket system, eight thread CPUs

Although you will have to wait until the second half of next year, Intel couldn't help but show off its upcoming Nehalem platform at IDF Taiwan. The CPUs have just come off the production line only a few weeks ago, but at A0 silicion all major OS:es are already booting on this new platform.

Intel's OEM partners already have samples and have systems up and running, as well. As you might know, Nehalem is Intel's first CPU with an integrated memory controller, as well as what Intel calls QuickPath architecture, which is similar to HyperTransport from AMD.

You might notice that it says optional integrated graphics on the slide below; this won't arrive until 2009, but more on that later.
