Intel
plans to launch yet another Penryn 45nm dual-core CPU and this one will be known as Core 2 Duo T9900. This might be the fastest Monetevina platform to ever launch, before Lynnfield, and eventually Arrandale Nehalem architecture derived mobile CPUs take over.

The Core 2 T9900 is a 45nm dual-core CPU with a 1066MHz FSB, 6MB of L2 cache and a 35W TDP, and this is the first Core 2 Duo for notebooks to break the 3GHz barrier.

It will silently replace and probably coexist for a while with the T9800, which currently holds the mobile clock record with 2.93GHz. If you look close enough you will recognize that T9900 is simply a re-brand for Core 2 Extreme 9100 that was available for a while here. The only apparent difference is that the Core 2 Extreme X9100 has a TDP of 44W, while the T9900 managed to stay within the 35W envelope.

We don´t know the price of T9900, but you can expect it to be close to $530, the current official price of the T9800 part.
