From 6.67 million in 06 to 20.263 in 08

We've seen some numbers from Mercury research that indicate that the sub-$35 CPU market is growing almost exponentially. In 2006 the total market of CPUs was about 140 millions of units and 6.67 million from that number were from the $35 and below market. It's not really much, but this market tends to grow really fast.

In 2007, this number has more than doubled to 13.339 million, but the total market has also grown to about 150 million units. Mercury research predicts that in 2008 the market should grow to a bit more than 150 million and 20.263 million CPUs will be in the $35 and below market.

You can bet that Diamondville will certainly help to grow this market, and by 2010 Mercury predicts that this market will grow to 31.355 million. Are we getting cheap these days, or does the market really realize that most people actually don’t need anything better and faster than a sub $35 CPU?
