Netbooks account for 22% of notebook shipments

According to DisplaySearch beancounters, the netbook craze is not showing signs of a slowdown. Although they have been around for more than a year, and despite the fact cheap ultrathins are becoming available, demand for netbooks seems to be healthy.
Netbooks accounted for 22.2 percent of portable PC shipments in Q2, a substantial increase over 17.8 percent recorded in Q1. Demand is strongest in Northe America and EMEA. In China and Latin America netbooks seem to be overtaking classic notebooks, although the total number of units shipped is lower than in the US and EMEA.
Asus has been steadily losing share because Tier 1 brands like Acer, HP, Dell, Lenovo and Toshiba.
