Inspiron 11z for $399
Dell has launched its first CULV-based notebook, the 11.6-inch Inspiron 11z based on Intel's Celeron 723 CPU.
At the moment, most CULV notebooks use Core 2 Solo SU3500 parts, but most are somewhat bigger and quite a bit pricier than the 11z. With prices starting at $399, the new Inspiron is the cheapest CULV-book on the market, and by a rather wide margin.
It weighs 1.4kg, has a 1366x768 LED backlit display, 2GB of memory and 250GB hard drive. Not bad, but the 3-cell battery is a bit disappointing, in spite of the low price. Design wise, it's pretty similar to the Inspiron Mini 10, and features the same integrated trackpad.
All in all, it's a pretty nice alternative to Atom-based netbooks, as you get a somewhat more serious CPU and a much better screen for a very small premium.
