Colorful plans them for October

Kaby Lake products are expected to start arriving in October.

According to Tom’s Hardware, the motherboards had been expected earlier but failed to show up. Colorful is planning to release its Kaby Lake motherboards in October.

The first one is the the Z270 motherboards sometime in October although Colorful did not provide an exact date.

Kaby Lake should use Intel’s LGA 1151 socket, which first appeared in Skylake. This means that the new motherboards do not need Kaby Lake chipsets as they can support Skylake processors too.

So Colorful and its ilk can flog the new motherboards to those who want some measure of futureproofing. The same thing happened with Haswell and the Z97 Broadwell chipsets.

There is not much time for this model to exist though. Intel has started shipping Kaby Lake samples to its OEM partners and some have already announced they will have products ready in December.
