MSI has officially launched its P7N series, in two flavors, P7N SLI Diamond based on the nForce 780i chipset, and P7N SLI Platinum based on the nForce 750i chipset.

The P7N SLI Diamond, based on Nvidia's nForce 780i SLI chipset,k supports 45nm CPUs and has quad PCI express 2.0 x16 slots with support for Nvidia Triple-SLI x16. The lower priced P7N SLI Platinum, based on nForce 750i SLI chipset, has "only" three PCI Express 2.0 x16 slots with support for Nvidia SLI x8. The 780i SLI Diamond will be bundled with Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio card, while the 750i SLI based Platinum will use integrated 7.1 channel HD audio.

Both motherboards support eSATA. MSI's 780i SLI version will feature six SATA ports, support for dual channel DDR2 1066/800/667, new Circu-Pipe heatpipe cooling system and POSCAP equipped on PWM. POSCAP (Polymerized Organic Semiconductor Capacitor) is a high grade product recently developed by Sanyo, which, according to MSI's press release, has better ripple current and dissipation factor characteristics than standard Tantalum capacitors.

According to the press release, both motherboards will feature the same MSI dual channel four-phase PWM IC which can reach more than eight phase power quality. The price is still unknown, and from what we have seen so far, Nvidia's 780i might be as popular as 680i was.
