G20 successor gets up to three days from 5,050mAh battery

Nokia has rather silently unveiled the successor of its G20 smartphone, the new 6.5-inch 90Hz Nokia G21, which promises exceptional battery life thanks to 5,050mAh battery and power-saving modes.

Built around a 6.5-inch IPS LCD screen, the Nokia G21 measures 164.6x75.9x8.5mm and weighs 190g. The screen has a maximum brightness of 400nits and a 90Hz refresh rate. A modest 1600x720 resolution at 6.5-inch leaves the G21 with a rather low 270ppi of pixel density.

The Nokia G21 runs on Unisoc T606 12nm SoC, which is an octa-core CPU with two 1.6GHz clocked Cortex-A75 and six 1.6GHz Cortex-A55 cores, as well as the Mali-G75 MP1 GPU. The SoC is paired up with 3GB of 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of eMMC 5.1 storage.

The main rear camera system includes three sensors: main 50-megapixel 1/2.76", 0.64µm sensor with PDAF and f/1.8 28mm (wide) lens, 2-megapixel macro, and 2-megapixel depth sensor. The front camera is an 8-megapixel one behind an f/2.0 lens.

The rest of the specifications include 802.11ac dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, FM radio, NFC, GPS, and all other usual sensors.

It uses USB Type-C 2.0 port and comes with a hefty 5,050mAh battery with support for 18W fast charging (although the phone ships with a 10W charger). The battery is probably the best part of this smartphone, and promises up to three days of battery life, thanks to some improvements with power-saving modes.

The Nokia G21 should be available soon with a price starting at €170. It will be available in two color options, Nordic Blue and Dusk.
