Qualcomm has announced its newest Snapdragon 750G SoC which brings 5G connectivity to mid-tier smartphones with Snapdragon X52 5Gmodem, as well as providing impressive performance from an octa-core Kryo 570 CPU, Adreno 619 GPU, and 5th gen Qualcomm Artificial Intelligence (AI) Engine.

The Snapdragon 750G is an 8nm SoC, featuring two performance Cortex-A77 based Kryo 570 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and six efficiency Cortex-A55 based Kryo 570 CPU cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It also comes with an Adreno 619 GPU as well as Hexagon 694 DSP with Tensor Accelerator.

The Snapdragon 750G supports up to 12GB of LPDDR4x 2133 memory, and maximum FHD+ at 120 Hz display support with 10-bit color depth and HDR10+.

When compared to the Snapdragon 732G, the Snapdragon 750G brings updated CPU cores, updated GPU, new Hexagon 694 DSP, and the same Snapdragon X52 modem found on the Snapdragon 765/765G SoC, which brings 3.7Gbps/1.6Gbps DL/UL 5G and 1.2Gbps/210Mbps LTE connectivity. The FastConnect 6200 subsystem brings WiFi 6-ready, Bluetooth 5.1 with Qualcomm TrueWireless Technology and Qualcomm aptX Adaptive Audio.

In addition, it also features Qualcomm Spectra 355L ISP with support for 36MP single/16MP dual with Zero Shutter Lag, and 192MP snapshot cameras.

There is also support for Qualcomm's Quick Charge 4+ fast charging,

“We continue to see great traction with our high-tier Snapdragon 7-series 5G mobile platforms,” said Kedar Kondap, vice president of product management, Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. “As we continue to build out this relatively new tier of our mobile roadmap, we’re always looking for ways to support the growing needs of our OEM customers. Snapdragon 750G delivers a selection of premium mobile features to an even wider audience.”

Devices based on the new Snapdragon 750G are expected by the end of this year, and Qualcomm was keen to note it is pin- and software-compatible with Snapdragon 690, which is quite interesting. Xiaomi is one of the smartphone makers that says it will be first to the market with smartphone based on this SoC, so it will be interesting to hear that it has another mid-range smartphone ready by the end of this year.
