With four Cortex-A73 and four Cortex-A53 cores

Huawei has now officially announced its newest 12nm Kirin 710 SoC, which will bring a decent single- and multi-core performance boost, GPU boost and more.

It was about time Huawei updated its Kirin 659 SoC and it appears that the new Kirin 710 SoC will bring some hefty performance improvements.

According to the details published at mydrivers.com site, which surfaced at the announcement of the nova 3i smartphone, the Kirin 710 SoC is made on 12nm manufacturing process and features four high-performance Cortex-A73 cores, clocked at up to 2.2GHz, and four low-power Cortex-A53 cores clocked at up to 1.7GHz. The GPU is also updated to be Mali-G51 MP4.

With these updates, the Kirin 710 SoC is 75 percent faster in single-core and 68 percent faster in multi-core tasks while the GPU is 1.3 times faster, at least compared to the aging Kirin 659.

Huawei also improved the DSP and ISP parts of the SoC, so it should bring better camera performance as well. Connectivity also got updated so Kirin 710 will support LTE Cat.12 and Cat.13, dual-SIM and dual 4G LTE.

It remains to be seen which is the next smartphone to use the new Kirin 710 SoC, but we are betting on something from Huawei's Honor lineup.
