Has the guts of the iPad Air 2

Apple has just announced splashy and expensive iPad Pro and quietly announced an iPad mini 4.

Phil Shiller only mentioned that this cheaper $399 device is going to have the insides of the iPad Air 2 packed into a smaller case.

The iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 4 run an A8X processor that make the smaller iPad faster. The screen probably remains the same 7.9 inch Retina 2048x1536 screen.

iPad Mini 3 comes with an ancient A7 chip with M7 and it was ready for an update. The price remains the same as the iPad mini 3 used to cost –  $399 for the 16GB option. The CPU is supposed to be 30 percent faster and the GPU ends up 60 percent faster.

We don’t know when the device is available but we expect it will hit the shelves soon. The device is 18 percent thinner and weights 0.65 pounds or 295 grams. iPad mini 4 is  6.1 mm thin and comes with a 866 mbits per second WiFi. The LTE version supports LTE advanced and the colors remain the same.

iPad mini 4 comes with silver, gold and space grey as an option. The cheapest Wi-Fi plus Cellular connectivity starts at $529 for 16GB, $629 for 64GB and $729 for 128GB. The WiFi versions are streight forward with $399 for 16GB, $499 for 64GB and $599 for 128GB. You can buy one today and Apple claims it will ship the one in four to six business days.

The exact specification and size will be available after Apple rules that the general public is ready for this super, cool and wonderful information.
