Apple is reportedly working on a new, low-end version of the iPhone aimed at less well off cult members who can’t afford their auditing fees.
The phone should resemble the standard iPhone, but the Wall Street Journal claims it will feature a different, less expensive body. One of the options is a polycarbonate shell, which can be a pretty good choice – just look at the latest Lumias and HTC’s One X. Of course, aluminium is better at fending off body thetans. (Hello lawsuit. Ed) We guess that a polycarbonate iPhone wouldn’t feel as plasticky as Samsung Galaxy gear.
The new phone could use many components from older iPhone models, helping keep costs down. It is worth noting that rumours of a cheaper iPhone have been floating around since the iPhone 4 launch, so it’s best to take them with a grain of salt. However, this time around Apple is facing a lot more competition than in 2010 or 2011.
