HTC One X 4.1 update still not out

by on06 November 2012

So much for the October surprise

HTC promised that its flagship HTC One X will get highly anticipated Jelly Bean Android 4.1 update in October and apart of some phones in Taiwan and a few other countries in Asia, few have seen the update.

HTC promised this update for October and even though the last day of that month is already long gone, the update is still not out. We have checked a few forums, talked to a few people who own with this phone, but as far as we can tell, there is still no update for most Europeans or US owners.

In the meantime the One X+ just became available in Europe for a saucy €649 and this one comes with Jelly Bean Android 4.1 out of the box. Don’t get us even started with the fact that in some seven days owners of the new Nexus 4 will get Android 4.2 for half the price.

HTC as well as Samsung and co might face a serious exodus of consumers to the unadulterated Nexus experience because of the better value and faster updates. For HTC’s sake, let’s hope the update will land sometime in November.

It is sad that iPhone users have access to Google Now, while the vast majority Android users don’t. Things could be even worse as HTC still beats Sony who promised the 4.1 update in Q1 2013.
