WES conference starts; so does BlackBerry fun

BlackBerry maker RIM is just kicking off its big Wireless Enterprise Symposium and the company has confirmed the new BlackBerry 9100 and 9650, as well as the Pearl 3G official. We expect more news from RIM on both the hardware and software side over the next couple of days, with the big focus obviously being the new BlackBerry OS 6.0, which will likely be the big star of the show. Beyond knowing that it will arrive next quarter, we do admit that this overhaul of the OS is both necessary and innovative.

Sprint will be offering the new BlackBerry Bold 9650 on May 23rd for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate with a two-year contract. Canadian providers Telus and Rogers have announced that they will be offering the new Pearl 3G. Telus claims that buyers will be able to get the Pearl 3G for as little as $29.99 with a three-year plan. Rogers did not commit to any pricing yet. Neither carrier was suggesting a release date as to when the Pearl 3G would be available beyond suggesting that it was coming soon.

Our sources at the big “V” tell us that they will be getting the Bold 9650 as well, but they could not comment on when this will happen. It will apparently launch in the U.S. on Sprint first. AT&T apparently has some BlackBerry announcements upcoming, but we are unsure what they could be, as we don’t think the upcoming model that we see going to AT&T is ready yet. We will have to see what AT&T announces down the road.
