As we told you yesterday, Verizon has gone public with the announcement that they will be offering the BlackBerry Tour in July. While we had received word from our sources that Sprint also would be getting the Tour, we did not know when we would get more specifics as to when it would arrive it on Sprint.

Now today, Sprint has gone public with the news that it will be offering the BlackBerry Tour this summer, as well. Sprint will offer the Tour for $199 for new users and those willing to sign a new two-year contract will get a $50 instant rebate as well as a $100 mail-in rebate. Those that are Sprint business customers might be able to gain additional savings by speaking with their Sprint account rep.

While we don’t know the exact date that it will be available from Sprint, we have been told that Sprint has Tour units in technical acceptance testing and they are working toward a summer release. From what we hear it is likely that the Tour will arrive in late July or early August, but it will be this summer, for certain.

Sprint is hopeful for a good reception for the Tour with its BlackBerry business customers who have continued to complain that Sprint has not been moving fast enough to release and certify new BlackBerry devices. Many Sprint business customers are still stinging over the fact that Sprint was unable to secure the Storm for use on their network and have not released any new BlackBerry offerings since the BlackBerry Curve, which was late to Sprint to start with.

One thing about the Tour that might make some scratch their heads is that the Tour does support 3G EVDO A as well as UMTS, but it does not support WiFi, as the Curve 9800 does.
