Although the Nokia E75 leaked out way ahead of its announcement, it's new "little brother", the E55 might actually be the more interesting device of the two models, both which were announced at the Mobile World Congress.

There's very little we didn't already know about the E75, although some more details that are worth mentioning includes important details such as the measurements. The E75 is a bit chunkier than expected at 111.8x50x14.4mm (HxWxD) and it weighs in at 139g. It's not massive for a device with a sliding keyboard, but early pictures made it look smaller.

The handset will ship with a 4GB memory card, at least if you pre-order the E75 from Nokia and it has 50MB of built in memory for contacts etc. The price has also come down by about £15 in the UK and a massive $64 in the US, although it seems that due to the weak Euro, the price in Europe has gone up by €15. The E75 should be available from next month. You can find the product page here

So what about the E55 then? Well, it's Nokia's first handset with a ShureType like keyboard, like that found on some Blackberry devices and that on some now defunct Sony Ericsson handsets. The E55 measures 116.5x48x9.9mm which makes it one of the thinnest Smartphone's out there and at 95g it's not much heavier than a regular mobile phone.

Sadly, it too only has a 2.4-inch 320x240 QVGA screen which doesn't really feel cutting edge, even on a device like this when you consider the huge amount of handsets with 480x800 resolution that has been announced during the MWC this week. On the upside, Nokia has gifted the E55 with 10.2Mbps HSDPA and 2Mbps HSUPA, 802.11b/g WiFi and Bluetooth. It also has a 3.2Megapixel camera, a front mounted camera for video calls, FM radio, a 3.5mm audio jack, 256MB of built in memory with 100MB of that user accessible and it will ship with a 2GB microSD card.

The E55 work on all four GSM bands and it will be available with either 900, 1900 and 2100MHz or 850, 1900 and 2100MHz 3G support. The battery is meant to be good for up to 6h of talk time in 3G mode and 8h in GSM mode with a very good standby time of 504h in 3G mode and 744h in GSM. Nokia also claims it can be used for 18h of music playback and for 30h with the radio on.

The E55 should be available from Q2 this year and is expected to retail for about €265 (£235/$335) plus VAT.
