Japanese phone maker Willcom Inc. has announced the first handset to feature Intel's new Atom processor.

Willcom is a rather small player on the Japanese mobile maret, with a 4 percent market share. It's hoping to boost its market presence with the new phone, dubbed D4. A bit more imagination wouldn't hurt, at least as the phone's name goes. The company focuses on high-end smartphones aimed at business users, so the addition of a powerful Atom based phone to its offer is no surprise.

The D4 itself packs a 1.3GHz Atom, 5-inch LED backlit 1024x600, 1.8-inch 40GB HDD, Wlan and a QWERTY keyboard. It's probably the smallest device on the market capable of running Vista, measuring just 188 x 84 x 25.9mm and weighing 470g.

It will be available in mid-June at a saucy 128,600 yen, or $1,272.
