Android Wear getting battery boost

Android 6.0 gets Doze power

Android Wear watches have a rather modest battery life of one to two days. The upcoming Android Wear 6.0 might change that, as it includes Doze power management.

Motorola is leading the way. The second generation not-so-round Moto 360 watches have the Android 6.0 and Android Wear 1.4 version updated.

The update will become available for other wear devices, but it remains to be seen when will this happen. The update is supposed to extend the battery life on Android Wear powered devices. We saw a rather nice boost on the Nexus 9 after receiving its Marshmallow Android 6.0 update, and the boost prolongs the battery life when the device is in sleep mode.

The Android 6.0 for Android Wear devices started reaching watches six days ago. We have already written about new features including the voice and video chat support, new gestures and some new apps. The LG G watch R didn’t receive the update but many second generation Moto 360 users are reporting that the update is available for them.

One can assume that after Nexus phones and tablets, Android Wear, the Android TV will be next to receive a taste of Marshmallow.
