ATOMIC HD 3870 with VCT

Sapphire's ATOMIC series is getting a lot of attention during this holiday season. Our colleagues from Expreview.com have managed to get a picture of what they claim to be Sapphire's ATOMIC HD 3870 VCT (Vapor Chamber Technology) cooler, which we wrote about here.

According to the post over at Expreview.com, ATOMIC VCT cooler will feature single slot design and it will be able to dissipate 150W of heat. The only drawback is that it actually blows hot air into the case, but that is the price of having a single slot cooling solution. The Vapor Chamber Technology is looking good and according to Expreview.com, it should reduce HD 3870 temperatures to a reasonable 67oC, which is good when compared to average 74oC on reference cooling.

Vapor Chamber is only 3.0mm thick and this should enable Quad HD 3870 Crossfire on 790FX, which is now limited only to single slot designed HD 3850. We will try to get more info on Sapphire's ATOMIC series as soon as we can. You can check out the picture here.
