Carmack demonstrated a new OGL engine

Steve Jobs had the pleasure to showcase a new engine from John Carmack. Here is an interesting quote: "What we've got here is the entire world with unique textures, 20GB of textures covering this track. They can go in and look at the world and, say, change the color of the mountaintop, or carve their name into the rock. They can change as much as they want on surfaces with no impact on the game."

It looks nice and you can read more details here.

This engine will probably take a while until it's out and since it is on Apple we have a reason to suspect that this is all based on OpenGL. Furthermore the images we've seen looks like a better version of Doom 3 engine, well I am quite sure its OpenGL.

After all Carmack stays with OpenGL and Apple for a while, no DirectX 10 at least not for now.
