Ahead of ATI

We didn’t get many details, but Nvidia was anxious to confirm that they are going all around Europe and showing its version of 3D stereo Blu-ray to a selected editors. We haven’t seen it so far, thanks for asking, but we expect to see it at CES that kicks off on January 7th 2010.

AMD was really noisy about its (ATI’s) support for this standard and it is quite clear that Nvidia has much more experience with 3D stereo as its been playing and investing in it for quite a while.

The main obstacle to these technologies might be 3D plastic glasses that will have to sit on top of your nose, in order to see any 3D picture. The chances of 3D TV and 3D Blu-ray becoming a mainstream standard are probably as close as cheap supersonic passenger airplanes.

Who knows, maybe ATI’s former chipset VP Phil Eisler, now Nvidia’s 3D stereo VP (What kind of title is that Ed.) might change the world of movies and 3D, Stereoscopic Blu-ray.
