Also replacing HD 4670 and HD 4650

AMD
is using silly names such as Hemlock for its dual RV870, Cypress XT for the HD 5870 (a.k.a. RV870), while Cypress Pro is HD 5850 and so on.

The chip that is scheduled to launch in Q1 2010 is codenamed Redwood and it also comes in XT and Pro variants.

Redwood XT is a 40nm DirectX 11 part that should replace Radeon HD 4770 and Radeon HD 4670 cards in the upper part of mainstream market. Redwood Pro will be the slower version and it should replace Radeon HD 4650 cards in the lower part of mainstream market.

These two speed bumps of the Redwood chip in Pro (slower) and XP (faster) variations are releasing sometime in Q1 2010.

The king of the value market is named Cedar, and it should replace the Radeon HD 43x0 series.
