Dual-slot DirectX 11 card for $299

We have focused more on the faster and more expensive Radeon HD 5870 card but it’s time to reveal some final details about Radeon HD 5850.

The card has dual slot cooler and just as HD5870 needs two PCIe power plugs to get enough juice. It works at 725MHz core and 1000MHz GDDR5 memory. The chips are the same as on the Radeon HD 5870, 32Mx32 and the memory bus is 256-bit. This part of the spec didn’t change from 4870, RV770 times.

The card will usually come with Dirt 2 coupon, DVI  to VGA adapter, crossfire bridge and some additional cables would not surprise us.

The wholesale price is $233 without shipping, profit and tax, and this is a partner price to retailer / etailer and we suspect that ATi sells this card for roughly $199 to its partners.

After shipping and calculating profits in we expect that US customers will end up paying $299 while the European price looks more like €220. European VAT varies from 15 to 23 percent depending on the country and this is partially responsible while European gets robed on any electronic Item coming from USA or Asia.

The card should be available tomorrow.
