Microsoft’s attempt to go against iPod, also known as Zune will officially get Nvidia's Tegra chip. We wrote about this before, but this time it has been officially confirmed.

Both Nvidia and Microsoft have confirmed previous reports, and with this in mind, Zune HD might be the most powerful media portable player to date. This is the only small player to play 720P HD video, HD radio, full screen internet browsing, Wi-Fi and Oled display.

Nvidia also promises “excellent” battery life, thanks to an integrated audio processor, a graphics processor, and two ARM cores, all of which are part of one big family called Tegra. Nvidia also claims that there are 50 active Tegra-based design projects currently in the works and this definitely means that we will see a lot moreTegra-based products in the future.

Let's wait and see what Apple prepares for its next gen iPod Touch, but it looks that they might have a less exciting feature set than Zune HD, but Apple has surprised the world before.

Zune HD is set to show its face on September 15th and it will cost $219.99 for 16GB in black and 32GB platinum finish for $289.99.
