Three versions

After quite a few pictures that we had a chance to show you back in May, MSI has officially announced its special HD 4890 that features Hi-C CAPS, Solid State Chokes, NCC PSF Solid caps and a big mean cooler. Back then, we wrote that MSI R4890 Cyclone should be quite an overclocker and this fact allowed MSI to launch no less than three different versions, Cyclone, Cyclone OC and Cyclone SOC.

All three cards feature 800 stream processors, 1GB of GDDR5 memory paired up with a 256-bit memory interface and a dual slot cooler with a 100mm PWM fan and four heatpipes. MSI has decided to implement its SuperPipe which means that those are 8mm heatpipes that should increase cooling efficiency.

The plain one works at 850MHz for the core and 3,900MHz for memory, while the OC version has a slight overclock of the core to 880MHz. The top of the notch, MSI R4890 Cyclone SOC is the one that works at 1GHz and has 1GB of GDDR5 memory clocked at 4,000MHz.

The cards should be available soon, and we expect the SOC version to retail at around €200.
