Why can't we all just get along

AMD says it will not engage Nvidia in a price war, and that it believes OEMs will turn to AMD products in spite of Nvidia's bargain pricing.

Speaking to the Inq, SVP Rick Bergman said AMD is not interested in winning share by losing money on every GPU the outfit ships. He says AMD will not engage in a price war, as it simply doesn't need to.

Bergman says AMD is doing well in the low end, and that it's got plenty of OEMs lining up for cheap Radeons. "If you go and look at Dell, HP or Acer's website, you'll actually see a lot of ATI graphics at the entry level," says Bergman.

When asked about Larrabee, Bergman said he doesn't know what Larrabee is yet, and AMD is not waiting around. Although this might sound like Intel bashing, Bergman pointed out that Intel is a big company, and that at some point it might do graphics right. However, Bergman adds that AMD hasn't seen Intel demonstrate that capability yet.

He also said AMD will have something "new and excitting" in a year from now.
