Nvidia sets outsourcing timeline with TSMC

Digitimes is reporting that Nvidia has recently set its second-quarter outsourcing schedule with TSMC and UMC.

Nvidia is apparently planning to start mass production of 40nm GPUs in mid to late Q2. These include the GT218, as well as GT214 and GT216 desktop GPUs, as well as the high-end mobile GT215.

We are expecting Nvidia to transition to 40nm in the low end, then move up the ladder to mainstream, performance and high-end parts. However, bear in mind that info on Nvidia's 40nm plans is very sketchy at the moment.

We already reported that the company is working on several 40nm projects, and that the first 40nm were to hit retail in early Q3, in time to counter ATI's RV8x0 40nm architecture.
