Hellcat is not just another "cat from hell“, this is Hellcat Xtreme Machine. This rig is a product coming from Smoothcreation and you can be sure it'll serve you well. If you're wondering where its muscle comes from, the answer is simple – Smoothcreation used the best available hardware coupled with Danger Den water cooling. The two graphics cards used are Diamond HD 4870 with Koolance water blocks, but there's also an upgrade option to two HD 4870 X2 graphics cards. Basically, the entire system is configurable to taste.



This is really an exquisite piece of hardware and quite a charmer, as was confirmed by a couple of girls we brought to our testing. Although female audiences might not usually like the “scary” looks, they still admitted that it does look appealing. However, after we showed them photos of Neptune Xtreme Machine (another rig from Xtreme Machine series, also packing some enviable gamer config), they usually opted on that one, as it looks much more tame. Still, gamers will not agree, as a powerful looking rig is almost as important as the real power inside – and Hellcat does look dangerous.



Smoothcreation offers a large choice of motifs you can choose in their gallery, but you can also supply your own. You can configure your rig as you see fit, and we were surprised to hear that the case comes with a lifetime guarantee.



We won’t be discussing all the details today, as we haven’t finished our testing, but we will post a couple of results that should be an indication of what this “beast” is capable of.

This rig uses Intel’s X48 motherboard, Core 2 Extreme QX9650 processor cooled by Danger Den water cooling system. If this is not enough for you, you can grab the same rig with Intel’s Skulltrail and two QX9775 processors and Crossfire with two HD 4870 X2 cards.





CPU temperatures are, of course, kept in check, and the same goes for Diamond HD 4870 GPU temperatures. The cards are overclocked from reference 750 to 780MHz, whereas the memory got an impressive boost from 3600MHz to 4360MHz effectively.



The case is quite tall but not lengthy. On/off and restart keys are on the upper panel, and the only thing missing is the panel with USB connectors. Both panels and the insides of the case feature detailed paintjobs, so no matter where you’re sitting – you can always have something to look at.
